You may need a Schengen visa if you plan to travel to Europe. The Schengen Area is a zone of 26 European countries that have abolished passports and other types of border control at their mutual borders. In this article, we will guide you through getting a Schengen visa and provide you with all the necessary information, like flight itinerary and proof of accommodation or hotel booking for visa application,  to make the application process easier.

What Is A Schengen Visa?

A Schengen visa is a document that allows you to travel within the Schengen Area for a maximum of 90 days in 180 days. The visa is issued by one of the member states and enables the holder to enter and exit the Schengen Area as many times as they wish during the validity of the visa.

Who Needs A Schengen Visa?

If you are a citizen of a country outside the Schengen Area, you will need a Schengen visa to enter the area. However, there are some exceptions, and citizens of certain countries can travel to the Schengen Area without a visa for up to 90 days. To find out if you need a Schengen visa, you should check with the consulate or embassy of the country you plan to visit.

Types Of Schengen Visas

There are three types of Schengen visas:

Uniform Schengen Visa (USV)

Allows you to travel to 26 Schengen countries for business, business, or to visit family and friends. The USV is valid for up to 90 days within 180 days.

Limited Territorial Validity Visa (LTV)

Allows you to travel only to the Schengen country that issued the visa or, in some cases, to a limited number of Schengen countries.

National Visa

Is issued by one Schengen country and allows you to stay in that country for more than 90 days. This visa is suitable for individuals who want to study, work or join a family member in the Schengen country.

How To Apply For A Schengen Visa

Step 2: Complete the visa application form. You can download the state from the embassy or consulate’s website. You should fill in the form with accurate and complete information.

Step 3: Collect the required documents. The documents needed for a Schengen visa application vary depending on the type of visa and the country you are applying to. However, the common documents required are:

The processing time can vary depending on the country and the time of year. Generally, it takes 10-15 days for the visa decision to be made, but it can take longer.
