After verifying all the facts, Lord Mornington finally declared by proclamation that the Wanad was not given to the East India Company as per the treaty of 1792. And as a result, the British troops withdrew from Wayanad. But then sometime in 1803, they reclaimed the Wayanad and brought it under British rule.
